The year 2023 marks the 30th anniversary of PLANET’s establishment and an important milestone in the company's sustainable development

Upholding the business principles of “integrity”, “excellence”, “mutual benefits”, “innovation” and “sustainability”, PLANET builds a corporate culture that values common well-being of the society and promotes a positive and sustainable enterprise spirit. In the face of COVID-19 and many challenges in the international market, such as material shortage and inflation, PLANET has flexibly adjusted its business strategy and actively engaged in the development of innovative network communication equipment and solutions, and these efforts have enhanced the competitiveness of its own brand, maintained its continuous operation, improved its ESG performance, and expanded its influence on the society.

In 2022, the consolidated revenue of the company exceeded NTD 1.7 billion, and the after-tax EPS was NTD 7.01, all of which set the best performance in the company’s 20-year TPEx listing. In 2022, the company was once again ranked No. 1 among the medium-sized companies in the “Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility Award”, being listed in the top 100 for the award for 16 consecutive years. In the same year, the company received a number of other honors, such as being ranked among the top 5% of TPEx-listed companies in the 8th (2022) “Corporate Governance Evaluation” for the 5th time, the “Golden Award” for its Sustainability Report under the “2022 Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Award”, and the “2022 Sports Enterprise Certification”. Thanks to the concerted efforts of all our colleagues and the support from our global customers, distributors, suppliers, shareholders and investors, these honors and achievements have further enhanced PLANET’s brand value and laid a solid foundation for the company’s sustainable development.

Strengthening corporate governance and risk management, and actively implementing climate change mitigation and adaptation measures

In terms of sustainable governance, PLANET follows the government's "Corporate Governance 3.0 -- Sustainable Development Roadmap" and closely monitors domestic and international sustainability trends, and has established a climate-related risk management mechanism, including the Sustainability Committee and the Risk Management Committee under the Board of Directors, which are the units responsible for monitoring climate-related risks and opportunities at the highest level. The relevant operations are carried out by the Sustainable Team at the operational level. Facing the risks and opportunities brought by climate change, the company has developed effective coping strategies. Since 2021, the company has incorporated SASB Sustainability Accounting Standards and the TCFD climate-related financial disclosure framework into its governance mechanism. In 2022, the company obtained the SASB third-party assurance, and it is expected to obtain the TCFD third-party assurance in 2023.

In addition, PLANET has enhanced its risk control over information security, continuing to strengthen its sustainable governance and business resilience. In 2022, the company obtained the ISO 27001 Information Security Management System certification for the first time. The company also incorporated information security specifications and design into its industrial-grade network products, and received the first IEC 62443-4-1 security certification for industrial automation and control systems (IACS) in 2022.

Following the 2050 net-zero carbon emissions roadmap, and adopting a multi-pronged approach to environmental sustainability

To achieve the goal of carbon neutrality by 2050, PLANET has developed the "2050 Net Zero Carbon Emissions Roadmap” and set phased targets. In its main business, the company adheres to the principle of green product development, providing the market with network communication equipment and solutions of friendly and intelligently management, information security protection and energy-saving design. In 2022, the company launched a series of industrial-grade 95-watt Power over Ethernet managed network devices, cross-domain central management solutions for renewable energy networks, etc., which reduce the carbon emissions of network infrastructure and meet the needs of the increasingly diversified intelligent network applications in the future. In its business operation, the company strives to build a sustainable supply chain. In 2022, the company started greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory in its supply chain with the goal of achieving ISO 14064-1 GHG inventory certification by 2023. PLANET has started to use green electricity in July 2022, and is committed to achieving RE100, 100% use of green electricity, by 2050. In addition, the company has carried out the carbon reduction staff engagement campaign to reduce office carbon emissions.

For environmental protection, PLANET has participated in the adoption of Pinglin organic tea plantation for 13 consecutive years since 2010, to protect water resources and ecology in Greater Taipei. In 2022, PLANET supported the “Clean air, Clear mind action” program, calling on non-profit environmental protection organizations, 77 enterprises, Hualien and Changhua government and local famers to support the using of rice straw decomposing bacteria to replace the burning of rice straws, which would help prevention of air pollution, on-site decomposition and recycling of rice straw waste, and the increase of soil organic matter. PLANET, together with the 77 enterprises, sponsored 4,100 hectares of rice field, which would reduce carbon emission by 36,900 tons. The company successfully integrated multiple resources from various parties to move towards environmental sustainability.

Implementation of sustainable employment, providing long-term support to disadvantaged children and cultural education, and exerting social influence to fulfill corporate social responsibility

PLANET believes that people are the cornerstone of corporate growth and social prosperity. The company puts digitalization and sustainability transition as the priority of its sustainable human resources development, and has established an employee succession plan for key talents of the company and assisted all employees in their career development. At the same time, the company maintains an equal, friendly, happy and healthy workplace, and has implemented the "Health 360 Program” for a long time to take full care of the health of employees and their loved ones, so that employees can work without hassle. The company values the inheritance of corporate culture, and will continue to implement its sustainable employment as a key component of its sustainable development.

In terms of social participation, PLANET actively integrates social resources with its core management capabilities to support education for disadvantaged children and promotion of culture and arts, with the aim to help improve the quality of human resources in the whole society. Since 2004, the company has been supporting the “Remedial education/ psychological counseling for disadvantaged children” program in Greater Taipei for 18 years, and has helped more than 10,000 disadvantaged children to regain their motivation and confidence in learning. Since 2014, PLANET has been supporting the “Program for Promoting Children’s Reading Habits in Rural Areas-Give Children a Bright Future” for 9 years, and has sponsored 21 elementary schools and 1 junior high school in Pitou Township, Changhua County and its adjacent township areas with a total of 17,496 magazines. The program has successfully helped students develop reading skills and expand their international perspective through regular reading. In addition, the company actively supports the promotion of culture and art education, disease prevention and health education, etc., hoping to assist the positive development of society through supporting education programs for children and adults.
