PLANET Technology Receives the Silver Medal for its Sustainability Film “Clean Air, Clear Mind
Action” at the 2023 Taipei Golden Eagle Micro-movie Festival

PLANET Technology, a global leading IP-based networking company, has announced that its first sustainability short film “Clean Air, Clear Mind Action” was awarded the Silver Medal at the 2023 Taipei Golden Eagle Micro-movie Festival.

Organized by the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy, the Taipei Golden Eagle Micro-movie Festival has entered its 7th year with the main goal of bringing awareness to the public on the importance of environmental sustainability and the sustainable achievements of enterprises through the creativity of short films. A total of 91 films were submitted this year with 36 films taking home the award.

PLANET has paid attention to climate issues for a long time. In 2022, PLANET initiated the “Clean Air, Clear Mind Action” program with an NPO, International Nature Restoration Action Association (INRAA), in order to prevent air pollution and carbon emissions from burning rice straws in Taiwan by encouraging farmers to use rice straw decomposing bacteria. It brings a sustainable fertilizing method to reduce carbon emissions while also improving the health of the soil.

In order to give the public a better understanding of the program, PLANET created a short film to document the actions taken to improve environmental sustainability. Through the art of film, the awareness of environmental issues we face can be brought to more people.

In the “Clean Air, Clear Mind Action” program, PLANET called upon 202 companies and 175 individuals, accumulated in 2022 and 2023, to participate in the program and combined the resources of the government in creating a sustainable environment and exerting substantial influence on society. After nearly two years of hard work, a total of 7,800 hectares of rice fields have stopped the practice of rice stubble burning in Hualien and Changhua Counties. This helped to reduce 70,200 metric tons of CO2 emissions*, equating to the annual carbon absorption of 5.84 million trees while also increasing rice harvest by 16.4%.

(*Based on WTO data, 1 hectare of rice stubble burning produces 9 metric tons of carbon dioxide)

This year, PLANET has also become a partner of the international “4 per 1000” Initiative, launched at COP 21 in 2015, to encourage stakeholders to transition towards regenerative, productive, highly-resilient agriculture, based on appropriate land and soil management.

Through this video, PLANET hopes to have a positive influence by raising awareness of environmental issues and encouraging people to care for the environment.
