PLANET Ranked among the Top of 2020 Corporate Governance Evaluation in Taiwan

PLANET Technology, a global leading IP-based networking company, was honorably ranked in the top 5 percent among the Taipei Exchange (TPEx) listed companies in the 7th (2020) Corporate Governance Evaluation officially held by the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE) and TPEx. The company was once again recognized as a role model for practicing corporate governance and corporate social responsibility in Taiwan.

Based on its good corporate governance mechanism, PLANET has enhanced its corporate governance performance in various ways. The company has voluntarily established two functional committees, "Corporate Social Responsibility Committee" and "Risk Management Committee", to strengthen the functions of the Board of Directors. Also, the Board of Directors are composed of gender equality and diversity of professionalism. The proportion of female members of the current Board of Directors reaches 43%, above the statutory level of 33%. At the same time, in response to the “Corporate Governance 3.0 - Sustainable Development Roadmap (2021-2023)” for disclosure of ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) performance to the world, PLANET has published its 2020 corporate social responsibility report and 2020 annual report in English. Its 2020 corporate social responsibility report has also been approved with the AA1000 AS (2008) Type 1 moderate level accountability and the “Core Option” of GRI Standards by an independent third party. All these actions on information transparency increase the company’s competitiveness in line with the trend of sustainable investment globally.

In order to strengthen corporate governance culture and guide the stable development of enterprises in Taiwan, TWSE and TPEx have jointly held the corporate governance evaluation since 2014 in accordance with the “Corporate Governance Roadmap” released by the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) of Taiwan. The evaluation indicators were developed according to both the governmental regulations in Taiwan and the latest international corporate governance principles. It covers 82 indicators in 4 categories:

  • Protecting Shareholder Rights and Interests, and Treating Shareholders Equitably
  • Enhancing Board Composition and Operation
  • Increasing Information Transparency
  • Putting Corporate Social Responsibility into Practice

Totally 1,617 companies were evaluated this year, including 905 TWSE- and 712 TPEx-listed companies. As a result, 45 TWSE- and 36 TPEx-listed companies were ranked in the top 5% group. PLANET was recognized among the top again in the official corporate governance evaluation in Taiwan. It encouraged the company to continue to improve the practice of corporate governance and ESG performance, so as to protect the rights and interests of all stakeholders, and to promote sustainable corporate value.
